  • Challenger Games

    Fri 12 Jul 2019

The Challenger Games is about involvement, teamwork and participation, all of which the Smeeth children showed in abundance at the Julie Rose Stadium.

The children took part in team building activities of transporting bodies and equipment across a tyre and plank combination, and then blindfolded stretcher bearing. They learnt that guiding people who cannot see over and under obstacles was not easy, and careful communication was important.

They then played Boccia, which is similar to lawn bowls, and we discovered Rhinna was a natural at the game. Then they took part in some handball activities and running saloms, before javelin and speed bounce. Each child tried their best, supported each other and had fun.

  • Ashford District Primary Schools Athletic Tournament

    Sat 06 Jul 2019

The Smeeth team performed brilliantly and consistently came third in their events. Everyone had a good time, tried their best and encouraged each other. Special mentions to Milo who not only came second in his sprint race, but also raced in the Upper Schools relay against boys three years older than himself; and to the Upper Schools girls' team who after waiting nearly three hours for their race came a very close second.

Thanks to all the parents who supported us too, you made the event very simple for us to manage.

  • KS1 Football Tournament

    Fri 05 Jul 2019

Eight brilliant Smeeth footballers went to the Ashford Games KS1 Football Tournament on a lovely, sunny Friday evening supported by wonderful parents. The team grew in each game, with supportive comments, passing and tackling (the children's own words from the team talk) being their highlights.

There were some close shots (especially Josh), awesome runs (especially Ryan), brilliant saves (especially Bertie), great determined tackling (especially Lily, Willow and Elliot), great clearances (especially Reggie), and all round tackling and encouragement (especially Jess).
