KS1 Multi Sports
Tue 26 Nov 2019Four brave students went to Highworth to take part in the KS1 Multi Sports. A big well done to Joshua, Austin, Ryan and especially Mila - who took on the role of three girls in many of the events.
Please look at the video resource centre to watch the children in action at the speed bounce, though Austin thought it was musical bumps!

Year 5/6 Handball Team
Tue 29 Oct 2019The Year 5/6 Handball Team were building momentum when play was stopped by bad light on Tuesday at Highworth school. With two score draws, Thomas and James had scored our three goals, with only good saves preventing Sophie from getting her name on the scoresheet too. Martina made some key saves and blocks, with fine team support from Darcy, Emily and Antonio to create numerous chances for our team. -

Mon 14 Oct 2019Thank you to all the school community who contributed donations for our harvest delivery. The reception children from Robins Class distributed them with their year 6 buddies from Eagles Class. -
Year 4 Handball
Thu 10 Oct 2019The team representing Smeeth performed valiantly and wonderfully. They began with a 7-0 victory over a large school, before some entertaining matches which they were just on the wrong side of.
Every player performed well, with Josh making some great saves, Alaia putting in some good passes to create opportunities to score and Sasha growing in strength when defending and moving the ball quickly when attacking. Ellie and Evie both scored, Adam took on a leadership role and Milo scored 9 goals.
Thanks to Faye our unofficial photographer.

Challenger Games
Fri 12 Jul 2019The Challenger Games is about involvement, teamwork and participation, all of which the Smeeth children showed in abundance at the Julie Rose Stadium.
The children took part in team building activities of transporting bodies and equipment across a tyre and plank combination, and then blindfolded stretcher bearing. They learnt that guiding people who cannot see over and under obstacles was not easy, and careful communication was important.
They then played Boccia, which is similar to lawn bowls, and we discovered Rhinna was a natural at the game. Then they took part in some handball activities and running saloms, before javelin and speed bounce. Each child tried their best, supported each other and had fun.

Ashford District Primary Schools Athletic Tournament
Sat 06 Jul 2019The Smeeth team performed brilliantly and consistently came third in their events. Everyone had a good time, tried their best and encouraged each other. Special mentions to Milo who not only came second in his sprint race, but also raced in the Upper Schools relay against boys three years older than himself; and to the Upper Schools girls' team who after waiting nearly three hours for their race came a very close second.
Thanks to all the parents who supported us too, you made the event very simple for us to manage.

KS1 Football Tournament
Fri 05 Jul 2019Eight brilliant Smeeth footballers went to the Ashford Games KS1 Football Tournament on a lovely, sunny Friday evening supported by wonderful parents. The team grew in each game, with supportive comments, passing and tackling (the children's own words from the team talk) being their highlights.
There were some close shots (especially Josh), awesome runs (especially Ryan), brilliant saves (especially Bertie), great determined tackling (especially Lily, Willow and Elliot), great clearances (especially Reggie), and all round tackling and encouragement (especially Jess).

Netball Competition
Sat 18 May 2019The Year 6 netballers produced some amazing efforts to win two of their five matches at the Ashford Netball competition. Considering their first ever game this season was at this tournament they gave their best efforts and visibly improved in each game. This was evident when they won their play-off match in a golden goal situation, keeping their nerve to keep creating chances. -
